One of the big problems with spiritual paths is how long they take. Under the very best circumstances, it takes a whole lifetime to achieve enlightenment and then you're dead, so when are you going to get to enjoy it? Well, that's not good enough in today's modern, 24/7 world, so thank goodness for The Art of the Bonsai Potato, billed as "Zen—Without the Wait!" It comes with a Bonsai Potato Altar (also known as "the base"), a packet of geo-particulate support medium ("gravel"), and a 64-page instructional booklet (very funny), which promises inner peace in less than ten minutes a week, with no water, fertilizer, or even light required. The booklet covers all aspects of the art of the Bonsai potato, from choosing a potato and placing it on the gravel, to pruning it and dealing with your grief when it rots. Those who are too lazy even for this little effort can use the cardboard "surrogate Bonsai Potato" supplied in the kit. Bottled Lightning also maintains an active web site at www.bonsaipotato.com for the worldwide Bonsai Potato community.
